Can you believe 2024 is less than one month away?!
We’re sure if you follow other agencies, you’ve likely seen some of their marketing predictions for the new year. However, we’re tapping in and giving you ours, too! (Because, we think it’s kind of fun to compare people’s predictions and see which come true).
We predict that video content will remain a pivotal tool in digital marketing. Platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube are witnessing the popularity of short-form videos, live streaming, and interactive content, and we don’t see that momentum ceasing any time soon.
We think we’re going to see a lot more brands integrating Augemented Reality (AR) in the coming year. Think: virtual try-ons, “see it in your room” simulations, and maybe even interactive ads??
When AI first took the world by storm in 2023 (we’re looking at you, ChatGPT), many voiced concern for the lack of personalization. We’ve all been to sites or gotten emails that use our first name — and don’t we tend to feel a bit more “special” when they do? Or how about the brand we follow on Instagram who *always* seems to speak directly to us?
We predict that brands will continue to utilize AI but in a more personalized way. We see this being particularly helpful for personalizing customer experiences and using AI to predict and analyze customer data to determine trends on preferences (which can then be taken to help inform your strategies).
We predict that we’re going to see a lot less influencers in the coming years — at least in the traditional sense. Consumers, especially Gen Z, seem to be a lot more skeptical of products being advertised online and a lot more conscientious of their purchases. Traditional influencers can often come across as dis-ingenuine. As a result, we think that brands are going to tap into the power of micro- and nano-influencers and UGC to showcase their products in ways that seem more organic.
We’re seeing a biiiiiig emphasis on social commerce (aka e-commerce on social media platforms). While Instagram and Facebook both integrated shopping features on their platforms in 2020, TikTok didn’t follow suit until September 2023 and has been offering incentives to users to utilize the feature by offering various coupons and special offers. We predict we’re going to continue to see an increase in social commerce in the coming years, and expect for brands to take advantage.
